The shape of a tree's branches and foliage is referred to as the crown. A crown reduction is where the branches are cut in order to reduce the size of the tree, both in height and/or the overall spread of the crown. A reduction may be necessary in order to make a tree more suited to its environment or to let more light into its surroundings and reduce shading. It can also be used to reduce stress on particular branches and make the weight of a tree more balanced. All pruning performed by Tree Brothers is in line with the British standards and the long term health of a tree is always our top priority.

Crown thinning is the removal of branches within the tree's crown, to reduce the density of the foliage and make the space between branches appear more even and uniformed. The main reasons for crown thinning are to allow more light to pass through the tree and to reduce the overall weight of the tree's crown.

Crown lifting is the removal of the lowest branches on the tree, there for lifting the height in which the crown begins. Crown lifting can be used to reduce shading in areas which are located close to the tree, or to enable better access underneath the crown.

Dead-Wooding is the removal of non-living branches, due to natural ageing or long term damage. It can be important to remove dead wood from a tree to promote long term health and prevent hazards.

Tree removal is always the last port of call, however in certain circumstances it is the only suitable solution. A tree may need to be removed if it is no longer living or has a disease which will cause the tree to become a hazard. Other reasons can be because the tree has simply outgrown its surrounding or if it interferes with building developments.

Stump grinding is the removal of a tree stump. We can remove any size stump using our specialist equipment, wether it be a pre existing stump or a stump from a tree we have removed ourselves.
